Free, Australia‑wide support for people living with hypoparathyroidism, their families and their carers. Peer support from people who actually understand the condition, information you can trust, and a patient voice pushing for better treatment access.
Four Things, All Free
The Hypoparathyroidism Support Program (also called the Hypopara Support Program) is administered by CaSR Patient Support, an ACNC‑registered Australian health promotion charity. There is no fee, no membership cost and no requirement to have a confirmed genetic diagnosis to take part.
Peer Support
A national community of Australian patients, carers and families who live with the same condition. When a condition is this rare, many people go years without meeting anyone else who has it. The program exists to close that gap.
National Patient Registry
A consent‑first registry that helps quantify how many Australians live with these conditions. Numbers matter: when treatment access decisions are made, an uncounted patient population is an ignored one.

Plain‑language explanations of the condition, its day‑to‑day management and the emerging treatment landscape, to help you between appointments.
Treatment Access Advocacy
New treatments for calcium‑sensing receptor disorders are in late‑stage trials. The program carries the patient voice into Australian access decisions so people here are not left waiting years behind other countries.
Any Australian Affected by Hypoparathyroidism
Hypoparathyroidism means the body does not make enough parathyroid hormone, which makes blood calcium hard to keep stable. The program is open to people affected by it however they came to it.
Genetic and Non‑Surgical Hypoparathyroidism
Including autosomal dominant hypocalcaemia type 1 (ADH1), caused by inherited changes in the calcium‑sensing receptor gene. This is CaSR Patient Support’s founding focus and the area where Australia has had no dedicated patient organisation. ADH1 families can also use our ADH1 Support Program.
Post‑Surgical Hypoparathyroidism
Hypoparathyroidism that follows thyroid or neck surgery. The cause differs but much of the daily reality, calcium management, symptom load and the search for informed clinicians, is shared. You are welcome here.
