Nicola Henry and Anastasia Powell from the School of GUSS will be conducting desk-based research that aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the websites, platforms, apps and social media services (and any other online or digital services) used in the non-consensual sharing of intimate images. This research is aimed at providing an understanding of the trafficking and possible commercialisation of the material; how it is traded, supplied to users, the nature of the `market¿ (for want of a better term, noting that it may not involve a monetary transaction). The desk research has the following objectives: To provide insight into the main websites, platforms, apps and social media services used in the non-consensual sharing of intimate images, in terms of their characteristics and how they operate. To understand what trends are emerging in relation to where the material is being predominantly shared.
